Africa Movie Night & Tutoring & Tuesday's test

Our quiz Monday (Jan 23) will cover a) Europe's colonization of Africa (how and why), b) the problems in Africa today that were caused by Europe's partitioning of the continent (artificial boundaries, ethnic conflict, religious conflict, civil wars, and lack of democracy), c) nationalism and Pan-Africanism, and d) Nigerian and Kenyan independence.

AC students and Africa Film Projects
1/19/12 = SS2 Africa project UPDATE: All topics have been assigned with essential questions as a guide to research. Research must be complete by February 3, 2012.

1) Don't forget! I HEARD IT ON NPR article 2 is due next Friday, January 20th. The topic may be ANYTHING Africa. Use the proper format... I've attached a copy of the original form. 2) I have attached here a topic sheet that is more detailed than our class discussion. IF as a result of checking the document below, you would like to request a different topic (there are some REALLY good ones with Apartheid and others that we didn't get to discuss today), then email me. I will post topic assignments ON WEDNESDAY, January 18th here on the blog... unless I am at school to give them myself. I created a new email address so you can contact me for this project and others. If you use the one I gave in class today that will be ok too. Know that I do not check EITHER of them on a regular basis, but I WILL check them regularly at times such as now when there is a project underway.

Monday - Tuesday Environomental Vocabulary - Class time Monday and Tuesday will be used to work on this assignment, however, if you need more time you may work on the examples at home.
