I still am having a little trouble with this site - so let me try to get this back up for ya'll!
Monday - Happy MLK Day of Service!
Tues. - Inauguration Day Activities
Wed. - Mock Writing Test / Begin Water Cycle Project
Thurs. - Coleman/M-Kent in and out of classes due to inservice - Home work to be worked on for all of Chapters 1, 2, and 3. All of Chapter 1 is due this Friday.
Friday - Water Cycle Project due(test grade) - chapter 1 work due, continue to work on chapters 2&3 for NEXT Friday!
Don't forget our student led conferences begin next week and that means parents should plan for your students placement after 2:15 EACH DAY AFTER SCHOOL NEXT WEEK!

Welcome to the last week of Science for the year 2008!
We have come a long way, we NEED to keep it together for the tests coming up this week and then you will have an opportunity to clear up any missing work and/or make that average as good as it can possibily get!
Monday: Chapter 7 review /EQ activity- Post test and Benchmark test on WED.- STUDY!
Tues.: Benchmark review - STUDY!
Wed.: Complete Tests!!!!!
Thurs.: Complete Volcano and Earthquake Activity
*PARENTS - PLEASE BE AWARE THAT YOUR STUDENT WILL BE RECEIVING THEIR PROGRESS REPORTS ON FRIDAY - DEC. 19, 2008. PLEASE SEE THE AVERAGE FOR SCIENCE AND KNOW THAT YOUR STUDENT CAN CHOOSE TO MAKE UP ALL OF THE WORK/LAB/PROJECT GRADES BY DOING AS MANY OF THE FOLLOWING AS POSSIBLE:
1. ALL WORK FOR THE FOLLOWING CHAPTERS IN THE BOOK: Chapter 1,2,3, 4, 5,6,7,8, and 9. THIS WOULD INCLUDE READING THE ENTIRE CHAPTER, WRITING ALL VOCABULARY WORDS AND DEFINITIONS 5 TIMES EACH, ANSWERING ALL QUESTIONS IN THE READING, ALL SECTION REVIEW QUESTIONS, AND THE KEY TERMS, MULTIPLE CHOICE, AND SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS IN THE CHAPTER REVIEW. THIS MUST BE HAND WRITTEN, IN BLUE OR BLACK INK ONLY! EACH COMPLETED CHAPTER WILL BE WORTH 100 POINTS - DON'T BOTHER TO TURN IN INCOMPLETE WORK!
2. ONE PAGE REPORTS ON ANY OF THE TOPICS COVERED IN CHAPTERS 1-9 OR ANY FAMOUS SCIENTIST - MUST BE HAND WRITTEN, BLUE OR BLACK INK ONLY AND THE NAME/PAGES OF THE SOURCE WHERE YOU GOT THE INFORMATION. EACH REPORT IS WORTH 10 POINTS, THEREFORE IT TAKES 10 REPORTS TO EQUAL 100 POINTS. YOU CAN DO AS MANY REPORTS AS YOU CAN!

Hello Swamp Peeps and Parents, Oh yes it's GREAT to have a GATOR for a Teacher!!!!!! Welcome to the last 10 days before your 2 quarter is OVER - have you prepared your self for a GREAT Grade? I want Santa winging your way with LOTS of goodies - not lumps of coal!!! I am continuing to grade your work so that I may add it to IQue. Some of you are in DEEP trouble. Parents, we are willing to hold anyone back from the dance on the 19th - if their grade is not a passing one. The same goes for those who have made N's or U"s in conduct. You need to find your way to morning detention - EVERYDAY at 8:00 AM to work your way back to an "S" in conduct. Please not that this week are continuing to work on Sea-Floor Spreading, and well as the concepts of faulting - Chapter 7 - Sec. 3. The test will be on Friday. All Benchmark tests will be given next week - SC on 12/17/08. Parents are you aware that when an assignment is given, it needs to be completed at home, I give and extra day of make up time, and if your student is unsuccessful - I give them the opportunity to redeem their grade by doing reports. Many are not doing any of this - and am at a loss to understand why. If your parent has seen this blog, ask them to write down the secret words, SEC Champions on WED. the 10's signature box - for extra credit on Thursday ONLY!!! Welcome to last week of school, before the week of the Thanksgiving holiday!
Monday - we completed our "Soil Labs" these will be collected on Tues.- please make sure that all forms are completed.
Tuesday - Begins our new chapter on Plate Tectonics (Chapter 7-Section 1)
Please make sure that you have your foldable flippy, and your Section A directed reqading questions are complete and ready to turn in.
PARENTS - PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ALL CLASSES ARE SENDING HOME PROGRESS REPORTS TODAY!
(Please make sure you are signing them and returning them by tomorrow - this is to inform you that you will only have about 3 weeks to correct the grade before the holiday season begins and your 2nd quarter in middle school is over!)
Wed/Thurs - we will be doing activities that deal with pangea and plate tectonics
Friday - activities continue with the same topic as well as a quiz!

Hello Swamp Peeps and Parents - It seems that my laptop does not wish to work - my blog from last week did not go through. Let's hope for the best this week!
Please make sure that you are turning in on MONDAY - your signed soil vocab.quiz. If you chose to make a passing grade, your words/definitions -10 times each should be attached. All 6 labs should be written out completely, and turned in today as well.
We will continue to look at the concepts of soil conservation - Chapter 10 - Section 4.
Please make sure that you have all activities for the week completed and turned in as you will have your Weathering/Erosion final on Friday - Nov. 14th.
Progress Reports will be sent home on the 18th - might I suggest that you find out how many 1 page reports you owe me in order to pass for the quarter!!!!!!!!

Dear Swamp Peeps and Parents - Hopefully this is finding its way to you as now you all have the information on how to get in!
I am very dissapointed to say that we could not do our labs today since you did not finsh your work.
Please note that tomorrow is the last day for the weathering NB 1 to be turned in - I will not ber taken after Wed. You may choose to make up this work by doing extra credit - that would be 30 - one page reports - due by Monday.
Wed. we will be doing 4 experiments on the weathering processes - please make sure you have your dirty pennies!!!!(Also a pop quiz - study your vocab.!)
Thurs. We will continue with 4 more experiments
Friday. We will complete our lab reports, illustrations, and turn in our lab report NB today!
Have a great one - remember to watch what you say to Mr. Nichol's or myself on MONDAY!!!

Rock Cycle Project - 21 terms, definitions, illustrations, and arrows of movement (7 days to complete this task)
Rock Cycle NB#2 (WS4/1, Review Questions for Chapter 4/Sec3 and Sec 4)
Earth Process Pop Test - 4 processesand their definitions
We will be sending home a Progress Report this week - please sign and return.
Concerned about your child keeping up? May we suggest 15 minutes of work/study time EACH night. Keep up with your students agenda - can he/she tell you what has occured in class each day. Don't forget to sign it each and every night.
*****JUST A REMINDER: Recovery of a grade is possible by doing 1page, hand written, resourced reports. Computer generated work is never accepted. IN YOUR OWN WORDS! Each well written report is worth 10 points. So it takes 10 one page reports (on any subject we have covered this year or any famous scientist) to equal 100 points.
Why so much work? If had done the original work, turned it in and put in some study time YOU WOULDN"T NEED TO DO THIS TO PASS! So the moral of the story is to do it right the first time.

Hello Swamp Peeps and Parents -
Welcome to the 2nd quarter of your sixth grade career!
If you didn't get off to a great start - and if you did - remember it is time to start fresh so give it ALL you have this time around.
We will begin the week with making sure that all of your great work from Chapter 4/Sec. 1 - The Rock Cycle is complete and ready to turn in for Tuesday. There will also be a "Pop Quiz" as well.
We will continue to work on the Rock Cycle project Mon.-Wed. - please make sure that you are seeing some progress on a daily basis - too many students are waiting until the last minute to complete tasks. This results in lower scores.
Thursday is our 9week bench mark test. It is very difficult if you have not been studying all along. Please review the materials for 15 minutes each night.
Friday - we will continue with our exploration of rocks with the Igneous Rock information of Chapter 4 - Sec. 2.
