Welcome to the 2008-9 school year. I will be teaching two different types of Language Arts classes; one regular 8th grade class and 7th and 8th grade Connections classes.

The regular Language Arts curriculum focuses on all aspects of Language Arts: grammar, writing, literature, and vocabulary.  The greatest focus is on writing.

The Connections classes focus on writing and grammar.  Students work during class on specific topics and conference with me at least twice each week.  During the conference, we evaluate strengths and weaknesses and work to improve the weak areas.

Week of August 25-29, 2008

Students are finishing their Great Candy Debate persuasive paragraphs. We will be presenting arguments in class on Wednesday. We will finish up by tallying the type of candy with the best presentation. Students should always read at home. When finished with a book, they are to log it in their agenda so that they can get credit for that book in the 25 Book Campaign.
